The White Rock Brewery Story
Here at White Rock we pride ourselves on producing finely crafted beers, brewed to perfection, plus a new distinctive premium gin we’ve called Ten Degrees. Based on the beautiful Channel Island of Guernsey, our approach is very much focussed on producing our beers and gin in small batches using quality craft artisanal techniques.
The brewery was founded in 2013 by the Managing Director, Ross Gledhill. With a passion for beer and brewing, he quickly saw an opportunity within the local marketplace and the White Rock Brewery was born, bringing the craft beer revolution to the Channel Islands.
From day one the emphasis has been on offering a variety of real cask-conditioned ales that are inspired by traditional recipes but adapted and modernised to create an infusion of flavours with real depth and originality, simply unlike anything else on the market. For example, our first best bitter Wonky Donkey is made from English bittering hops which provide the perfect balance to our unique combination of richly-flavoured malted barley.
What started off as a core range of just three beers with Wonky Donkey, Lost Tourist and Pushang, has grown and grown in recent years and now includes our malty ruby ale Witch Hunter, our aptly named Pa’s stout and our new golden beer, Scapegoat, to name but a few. So, whether it’s the big bold flavours of our highly acclaimed Wonky Donkey or the smoother, more summery taste you’ll get with Scapegoat, we’re sure to have a beer to set your taste buds alight.
And now a Distillery too..
After six years of making beer, it was inevitable that our boffins were going to start tinkering at some point; and tinker they did. We now go way beyond quality craft beers and have created our own unique gin using the same attention to detail that we have bought to our beers.
As part of our emphasis on innovation and continual product development we set our sights on producing a premium gin like no other. After a period of testing and refinement by our technical development team, we settled on producing our gin using a dual unique vacuum distillation and fractionation process. Our production processes allow us to extract the most subtle of flavours, resulting in a gin that is elegantly fresh, vibrant and captivating.
We’ve also received recognition for our efforts with Ten Degrees winning Silver in the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) and also received “special mentions” status at the prestigious ‘Gin Guide’ Gin Awards for 2018.
Starting small, but going big...
So we may have started small but we have big plans. Starting with just a handful of beers for local customers, we now produce beer for markets across the globe and with the introduction of Ten Degrees Gin the only way is up as we continue to refine and develop our products and brands. Thank you for joining us on the journey.
